Some thoughts

First of all don't get me wrong, I really like ADK2. But I don't like where this is going in some cases.

First of all, this game was not ready to go public. Now there are many many inactive rooms and rooms that you can't even join. It was a minor issue because there was just a few servers. But now half of the open rooms are like this and there are no mechanisms in the game that prevent this.

Secondly, the premium. I have never seen a situation where you can buy premium to an unfinished game. It was too soon and you've taken away from people the possibility to play with more than 3 friends. Even offline, because this option is still inactive. You changed the old site and now everybody know about new ADK and what's the first thing they see? That this is beta. Second thing? It has premium. I think a lot of people shouted many unpleasant things when they've seen it.

The third thing is pretty annoying too. When you had disconnected from the room, you can't rejoin and continue playing. I think this is one of the biggest flaws, because if you're playing for rank, there's nothing more frustrating than losing because of disconnection.

I thing the most urgent thing is to make this game work well and stable. Sometimes it's really heavy and I never play it on HQ. Too bad you didn't consider java. It seems like the perfect language for that type of game.

That's all from me for now. I had to post these thoughts, they were in my head for too long.

edit:

Private massages on the forum would be great too.

Hey Skwara,

I really appreciate all your feedback, and always have done that.

We have gone public on our site, because we have been working a very long time on the game, and we felt that it was good enough to go public. Also, with the new EU servers, it was not possible to have a low amount of players, as the costs are pretty high for those servers. We will work on all the little annoying bugs soon :)

As for the premium, you can buy a premium account while the game is in beta, and get a discount. I agree that the 4 player max was a bad max, so I upped it to 6 players, because 6 players is a lot more fun then 4 players. The real extra benefit of a premium account should come from the fact that you can play new modes, and other powerups. This way a premium account really adds to the current game (although, right now it does little)

As for the rejoining, it barely happens that you get disconnected from a room, most often after a fault in the home network. We don't let people to rejoin the match, as then people could go shopping in and out all the time.

And we are looking into the further optimizing the game. Right now we are looking on reducing the memory footprint.

In general, we are working very hard to make it a great game, and sometimes we maybe want more than is possible. Our excuses for that.

Best regards, Geert

Great responce Geert. Only 1 thing about rejoining: I'm not sure what do you mean by shopping, but I will present some situations i heard or experienced when rejoining would come handy.

1. When you play on fullscreen sometimes you can move your mouse to the upper edge of the screen and then the address bar shows. Sometimes it won't hide until you press escape, but you have to click on this bar. If not, it won't work and you'll exit the game.

2. You have lags and you realized that you're playing through Wi-Fi. So you plug the cable automatically and that's when you get disconnected.

3. My friend works on Ubuntu and has some graphics card issues. Sometimes flash player crashes and then he can't rejoin.

4. And of course hitting esc by accident when for ex. you're passing the keyboard to your friend.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i think by shopping you meant going in and out. It's just a couple lines of code to not let this happen. For ex. max number of disconnects.

I think, you should've left it as it was - max 4 players/room for non premium players, and 4+ for premium. As a premium member, I don't feel I have any real advantage to be premium over non premium (yet).

Anyway, I agree with Skwara, that the most important is to make it stable. As of now, I think the biggest concern are lags and it'd be great, if the game demands could be lowered.

Hey HST.NOga,

The thing was, that I want people to find the game fun and attractive on first sight, and then want to play the full game. We are working hard to add all kind of nice new premium options to the game, to make sure premium members have a much better experience, while the free people also have a nice experience.

Geert, I am suggesting a confirmation box on ESC.
"Are you sure you want to leave this room?"

This box will only show when an accidental hit has very unwanted consequences (such as when you are playing).
i.e. the box will not appear when in a gameroom.

Premium advantages will grow soon, such as with the upcoming achievement and perk system.
