[NEWS] Future of Tournaments

Dear curvers,

With much regret we have to announce that our gracious tournament moderator Alicia has left the Curve Fever team recently. Alicia was a great tournament moderator for Curve Fever 2 and also Curve Fever 3. We will remember her special effort for organizing two tournaments per month in CF2. It demonstrated that she wanted to do the best, on one side to keep Curve Fever tournaments running like it used to be in the past, and on the other hand to give you the opportunity to compete two times a month and thus to improve your chance to become a new champion!

With honesty, we can't answer concerning the future of tournaments for now. A significant increase of cheating, trolling and personal attacks against the Curve Fever team - more specifically during the tournament events - make our work very difficult in recent times.

An intern discussion will take place on this matter. Some of the following questions will spark the debate.

- Do we still wanna host tournaments?
- Do we need to get a new tournament moderator?
- How can we make it better for tournament moderators?

Curve Fever tournaments are cancelled until further notice.

Happy Curving,
Destin.

Yes, get new tournament moderator! We want this game to go on and on with lots of fun and give oppotunity for people to become champion(s)! With a new Tournament Moderator, I'm sure he/she will do a great job like 'Alicia did!

Best Regards,

Aterca.

The only way this game can survive since geert abandoned everyone, is if the player base promotes competitive tournaments through somebody with a decent youtube channel. No more final videos from people that bring in like 500 unique viewers. If this can't be done, the new tournament mod will be wasting his time as less and less players will participate every month.

What a surprise... many people wanted to help in tournaments but since you weren't friends of them you weren't an option.

There are many players who want (or wanted) to help, just ask for applications for a tournament moderator.

I'll advise you to abstain from unnecessary exaggeration, the solution is quite straightforward: elect a new tournament moderator. Electing a new tournament moderator is not a difficult process, and there are a number of suitable replacements in the community.

Petulant complaining about how difficult it is to deal with "cheating", "trolling", and "personal attacks" should not discourage you from electing a new tournament moderator. If the elected tournament moderator cannot deal with criticism effectively then they should not retain their title: part of the job requires backbone and proficient ability to suppress a situation.

In regards to "cheating", "trolling" and "personal attacks", I'm reluctant to believe they're much of a hassle to deal with; I think you're being tenuously melodramatic. Simply permaban trolls and cheaters, no it isn't too severe or difficult in the slightest.

As for "personal attacks", users who personally attack staff should also receive a one week ban as caution. If a user cannot be civil and constructive with their criticism then they should be suppressed, otherwise the situation will exacerbate for everybody involved.

What you need is stricter enforcement of existing regulation and an authoritative leader so that previous issues do not reoccur.

If I am to be honest, I'm apathetic to Alicia's withdrawal, but the lack of a tournament moderator to create and supervise official tournaments surely sucks for most of us.

If you refrain from electing a new tournament moderator then you and the staff team are frankly responsible for quickening CF2's death.

To be honest, it's an ungrateful job to be a moderator. If we take a look at the conditions, I'm not shocked that many mods quit after a few months. I mean the mods get ingamestuff(free prem) that doesn't cost Geert anything. In return they spend several hours(depending on the position of the moderator) of free time for this game, they get a lot of hate just for smal mistakes and sometimes even without valid reason(e.g. some people started flaming and insulting mods just because they lost a coinflip at a tournament), since some time they also get ignored by the developers with some important stuff and now you guys say it would be soo easy to find a new moderator that would like to work with this conditions?

If they publish a topic to search a new mod and let it one month open, there won't even be 20 people that apply. More than the half of them has probably shown really bad behaviour ingame or at the forum(not rare that it was also against mods), several players are missing important knowledge(1 month old accounts, players that never posted/commented something at forum,...) and if you filter the ones that could fit(also English skills and other stuff is needed) there are not even 5 good choices left. And if you have to decide one of them to do the job and they get some impressions, it's unsure if they still want to do it, or quit after a few months because they notice it's not as easy to handle as they thought before.

Hello everyone,

We want to let you know we really want to keep tournaments in Curve Fever because this event is always keenly anticipated by all of us to compete and have fun with each other. This is also the reason why we will discuss into what the best options are, to make this event more exciting for everyone.

Indeed, promoting tournaments will spark the debate, to attract more people and make it even more exciting. Social media is a key issue in that sense.

Concerning the negative comments about the others players, moderators or even staff team, I remind it is not the right place to do it. Although, I know the original topic is not so positive, we have to communicate in a positive way.

The tournament matter is in the top of our discussion list. I thank the people who sent me a private message about the tournament role already. We could get a new tournament rapidly so the tournament events are back as quickly as possible, but we want ensure sustainability over the months.

As soon as the discussion will have taken place, we will let you know.

Any (genius) suggestions are welcome :-) For example, what social media would you recommand ? What would fit well with curve fever tournament promotion ?

Happy Curving and Much Love ;)
