U must agree. The new version is not good at all.

I'm not supporting the form of this topic, but I have to agree that the new version is laggy. But it's not an internet lag, this game is too heavy and you keep adding new effects and when there's a lot of people playing somebody takes the powerup and everything hangs for a second or less. Being in front of the hole means death. I don't know if this is the fault of poor coding or the flash can't handle this game, but the priority should be to make this game 100% stable. And I really mean it, 100%, because it's ADK.

I'm 100% behind your opinion.

It's not smart to reproach the developers on such way when they recently banned you for 1 week subzero...

It's ok, I accept your straightforward opinion.

In the game window itself, very little has changed visually at the moment, apart from a changed effect when you pick up a powerup or die.
Server code has changed though.
The biggest (visual) changes have been made in the lobby list, where you can see the list of games.

If you guys can try and explain where it is laggy during the game (like skwara already did in some way), this would be very valuable and will help us to push out a new update fast to counter your difficulties.
Also, your graphics card if possible, as it could have something to do with Flash 11 hardware acceleration we enabled in the new version.

Thanks!

Am I the only one who thinks the new Achtung looks way better then the old one? The only thing is, it's harder to see how full a room is (in the lobby, and in the room itself).

Yi Spliff,
I sort of designed the squares on purple, because I believed it allowed players to oversee the rooms that were open much faster. It beats having to read the numbers.

For the lag I have played for a while and noticed some aspects:

- The steering seems to be a little less responsive, yet the game runs smoother overall. I think this has to do with the server updates, as I have not experienced it on testing with the older server code. Will discuss with Geert.

- After playing several games, the game starts to slow down as it seems to consume a lot more memory than before. The occasional shock that you guys experience (of about a second) corresponds with a large decrease in memory by Flash, it is probably the automatic garbage collector that runs during the game itself. I will look into what may be causing the memory problem.

In the meanwhile, keep the remarks coming!

Port it to Java and these problems will go away.

java sucks, dont do it.

that aside, it like the new design very much except for one tiny thing: the player list inside a room before the actual game. before, there were 2 columns @ 4 players which was a nice and easy overview. now all players are stacked in one column and it takes a lot more time (you know, precious milliseconds) to determine whether those are 6 or 7 players right now in the room…

if you want to keep the new empty space on the right for some reason you might instead add numbers in front of the players names or use some sort of boxes in the background that visually group the players, so it's again possible to see the current number of players conveniently at a glance.

about the lagging  it seems that now one lagging player influences the whole game. before, when one player was lagging a little, he would wiggle around which was annoying but didn't influence the others. now there is no more wiggling but instead the whole game stutters, which kills everybody. that is, at least, my impression.

keep up the good work ;D

g0nd0lf, thanks you for your observation.
The player list in the room is a usability and interaction issue that I should take care off yet haven't noticed yet.

I will take your suggestion and will design something to make it more convenient.
And yes, such milliseconds are indeed important. This is why I replaced the 'number of players in room' in the lobby with white/grey rectangles, because it does not require as much cognitive processing as numbers :)

Great, but he's talking about the room and not the lobby.

Yes I know, that is why I was illustrating I like his way of thinking by another example from the game
