New update: Change in premium rooms

Today we will release a new update to Curve Fever 2!

We noticed that many players play private games with their friends. Especially during lunch times. We also noticed that they never use any of the premium features. After assessing why, it turns out that premium games cost coins, and in the setting where you want to play it with your friends, most players log in as guests. Thus to play a premium game with your friends, you have to let them register an account, and let them play about 2-3 games, before they can join a premium game. All 6 of them!

So we are going to change it.

In todays update, there will be:

  • Joining a premium game doesn't cost any coins anymore! Everyone can join for free
  • Hosting a premium game requires a premium account or 500 coins
  • There will be a 'No guests' option, to make sure that people who don't want to play with guests, are not flooded with guests, which they then kick. It is not fun for the host, and not fun for the guests.

Expect the update to be rolled out during the day.

Has some good and some bad sites.
 

Good:

- As player without premium you can play as much team/8 FFA... as you want without risking to lose all your coins

- You can easier collect coins to get colours, items, icons

- The premium players don't get spammed with friendrequests anymore

Bad:

- As player without premium you need to play 8h+20min to collect enough coins to create one premium room. That means hosting 5 premium rooms will cost you more than buying a colour(purple) that you keep forever. I think the proportions are not that good

Open questions:

Are Guests now able again to play at premium rooms, as it doesn't need coins anymore and if this is the case, would games containing guests automatically count as unranked?

Will the "No guests"-function make the guests unable to join the room or can they just join as spectator?

If a normal player has a guest added, will this affect him/her at any way, if he/she trys to join a "No guest"-room?

Guests will be able to play premium rooms, only when those rooms are unranked and allow guests to play in them.

No-guests will make guests unable to join the room

If a normal player has a guest added, the guest can't play in the 'no guest' room

I really love this game and respect the team for making it, but I must say that I would expect to see at least one paragraph here about the large amount of bugs in CF 2 and a word about fixing them, but after a long time not seeing any update and feeling like CF2 is practically abandoned, the only update is not that of an upgrade, in my opinion at least; although I encourige the CF team to keep developing and don't mean to dissrespect in any way.

Nice update, I think this is a very good idea to help introduce newer players to the competitive side of CF. Also nice that you can see who is in each room again.

But why? Do you have any plans on promoting CF2 again?

I appreciate every effort put into cf and this has ofc its advantages for the community as a whole but this makes 2nd/alternative accounts even more attactive which at the end no one likes

Some of you ask: Why do you do an update now, and why do you this specific update.

As you know, we are working on creating CF Pro. Part of it is analysing the previous Curve Fevers, what worked well, and what didn't. In one such analysis, it turned out that 40% of the player play the game in private rooms with their 'real life' friends. And those players can only choose from no powerups or basic powerups. We don't know if this is 'enough' variety for those players, or that hey want to play more games. We make it very hard for them to play premium games with their friends. Thus we wanted to improve that.

 

There are many things you have been asking for as a community. Like: Fix the 'room bug'; don't add powerups automatically when a new player joins; more game modes; new colors and icons; etc. We have no plans to work on these requests. We are fully focussing on CF4.

A long long time ago, we had exactly this system, and premium players really liked it, as they were the cool kids that could host a premium game, and everyone wanted to be in their rooms. But lets see how it will work out this time.

Well, premium isnt a waste though. Right? There will be tournaments, and only premium players can only participate in it.

Hello.

Is there an alternative to reach the game or do I have to go back to the <address>http://forum.curvefever.com/play2.php?has_flash=true</address> link and live with the lags I have in the game? So far I have used <adress>http://forum.curvefever.com/CurveFever2.swf?r=1368895653&v=0</address> and had no problems. But now he tells me "Your version is old" when I try to log in about this link. Help me please! Sad

Hello @Geert Since this update i noticed an increase of turns lags/Bugs when i'am playing. I mean that my snake change of direction witthout pressing my key. How to fix it please because ingame i die in wall for nothing or i suicide my self. it's verry annoying.
