New servers and closing East Asia Server

Hi guys,

We have almost completed the move to our new servers. We did some tests with some configurations, and we have found a great Intel Xeon processor server with more than enough RAM in Germany. This should greatly improve the latencies with countries in South and East Europe.

As for the East Asia cluster, we are going to close this cluster. In the last few months there have been too little players online to sustain it. In the future we will look again on how to conquer the Asian and Australian market, but for now they can best play on the USA cluster

I see something changed with the thin item. The time theme is different, can you tell us more about that?

Since today it lags more and if you take an item with Cooldown you have slow turns and cant move properly + even more lag.

I am not the only one ... for everyone in the room its the same.

Did the Visual Cooldown after you take an item changed to another position or does it move different?

It is very irritating. If you take an Speed item at the end it looks like the item is gone but you still have the boost.

Unplayable and annoying for alot of people.

@implex and @video games, we made a small change to the timer thing. This way the timer is not in the way, when you try to go through holes. What do you think of it?

nice idea but it laggs and as Implex said you think item is over but still got the boost

As Implex said, it's harder to camp or play properly with this update. We can't really see when the item ends, so it's very hard to play speed and thin, because it's very important to see this.

I hope the servers will be better, as you said today!

I never had problems with the timer but now I have it. For example in Speed if I take and Speed Item at the end of the cooldown you cant see the timer good because its on the line and you dont know exactly when its gone. Also it got laggy when you take an Item with cooldown. I dont like the change because its useless.It was never in my way,too.

There should be no change in laggyness, as nothing was changed but that little visual timer.

The visual change itself is a small test, do you think it would be better if it would be in FRONT of the snake instead?

We'll make a vote later this week which method would be best, and change things to that ;)

As people have said, the new update causes many difficulties while playing thin/speed or other items. The cooldown makes it very unpredictable and it's much more difficult to judge when does your item end and when can you pick a new one. Hope you solve this case (and return it to previous state :p)

maybe just make updates to "force" on players playing the other items,maybe now ppl will start to play thin when speed is unplayable srsly ppl play not only one ,there is 25 items...

But it is more laggy.If you take an Item you have slow turns etc...in speed, in thin everywhere. If you dont test your own game you cant say anything obviously.If you think a vote for this new timer is useful do it but Speed is unplayable like this, sorry.

If you want to focus your game on 1 item do it but its non sense.

Change it back please, very laggy and impossible to control the turns.

It's a good idea actually, but i'm sure noone has ever complained about this before.

We're currently working on finalizing the design for visualizing powerup durations. This was one of the new ideas for doing this. And instead of coding the whole thing in cf3, it was a few seconds work to try it in CF2. It will be changed, don't worry.

At first I thought it was a nice update because I tested it in a room alone, but when I went to 4vs4 thin it was terrible just right before the thin ends it feels like you get fps lag that you feel the curve heavy and you cannot control the line and it moves with certain delay.

I agree with everyone to change it back.

Hey,

In my opinion the new timer is better than the old one, but i also agree with Laura19 about the delays when you grab an item. Maybe its a possibility to allow us to choose what kind of timer we want in a settings-menu. Beside the lags that Laura19 describes the servers are fine in my opinion. Opponents and teammates aren't lagging anymore. But the delays on the timer are the issue everyone is pissed off.

Oh please, how can a little visual change like this cause any delay in your connection with the game? Ludicrous lol.

I dont know if it is caused by the new itemcircle around the head of the snake or by any other circumstances, but when any item reaches the duration end, the line feels less and less fluently and it is somehow sluggish/laggy.

At the moment you take it, it still feels fine, but the more time passes the lagg increase.

I have same. My line is laggy at the very end of the duration.

I read that someone said the idea was it to make it easier to pass holes. To be honest I never ever heard from anyone that the old timer made it difficult to pass holes in all my years of playing this game. Which brilliant developer came up with this idea? Just an idea: Maybe ask experienced players in the future about such stuff like game mechanics. We seem to know the game better than you (from the player perspective).

With this update, speed is horrible to play, and laggs are coming everytime you take an item, I really hope you wil change back to the old settings. And one more thing I don't like is that you make the changes just before a clantournament, atleast you could have waited untill after. Now when I pick some speeds the cooldown thing is just distracting me from watching where I should go, and instead of focussing I just think of how annoying this thing is.

And as many other people say, I have never ever heard about a person who has trouble to pass holes because of the cooldown timer.

And when it's this short time left untill CF3 comes out I don't see any sense of changing this cooldown thing now, in my opinion it worked great and it would be the last thing I would change if I would change anything at all.

There were very little East asia players, so we shut down the asia server. However, we will have asia servers in CF3, but not from the start.

Hi Geert,

Hong Kong players are actually looking forward to the new CF, we actually had people playing every night (Please refer to: https://www.youtube.com/user/onteamhk) and since summer break is coming, I am sure more Hong Kong players will return and it may indicate the revivial of this game in Hong Kong! 

Please include the Asia servers as soon as possible, if possible!
