The lag rewind works similar to a replay system and it's server sided. Geert said there could be a probability that the current lag rewind system will be used for another feature (like a replay system for instance).

I hope this is clear now and more powerups will be suggested :D This is not really the best place to discuss other matters.

Items are fun but i think there aren't any more items necesary, because the game would become a luck game and less skills...

well i think there should be 1 item added an item that cleans the whole field of items(only items that are not active at that time)

Brush (green)

On catch the player line starts acting like a brush for an x amount of time

"paint" in players color drips down from the line towards the bottom of the field

of others hit the drips they lose.

drips stop distance x from line

Heey guys,

I think the brush powerup is a bit complicated.

I really like the blink pu and the move holes pu, not sure if the last one is possible, but it's a good idea.
- Added those idea's, your blinking pu as a variation to an already existing pu.

A new type of powerup which is a different colour to the previous powers (i.e. not red/green/blue), but black. They could be called ninja powerups. Since they are black, they are impossible to see on the screen, and until someone collects one, the icon in the middle of the power won't be visible either. When a player runs into one of these powerups, the icon (white) in the middle becomes visible, and the edge of the powerup is visible with a ring of white around it. The powerup will disappear after 1 sec (enough time for the player and everyone else to spot it). After, the effect of the power starts, and a timer appears around the player, like other powerups. These powerups could be more powerful, since they are harder to get, and the timer could last longer.

a. Reveal-all other ninja powerups on screen are visible to everyone for a limited amount of time.

b. Time Power-All green powerups affecting you will have their timer doubled. All green powerups affecting other players will have their timer halved. All red powers affecting you have their timer halved. All red powers affecting everyone else will have their timer doubled. All blue powers have their timer doubled. Ninja powers are not affected.

This powerup has it's own timer which everyone has around their dot. All powerup timers that are on the players when this powerup is collected are affected, and any powerup collected during this Time Power's timer is on is affected.

c. Anti line/Line Eater-whilst this powerup is active, you can go through anything, and you won't make a line behind you. Your dot will also become the same size as when you get 1 fat powerup. Wherever you touch a line, you erase the part you touch. When you touch another dot of another player, they die.

d. Powerup Spawn-exactly the same as the blue 3 circles powerup, except this is for black powerups. It spawns 5 of them instead, though.

e. Semi Blindness-everyone can't see parts of the screen for a while, although they can still go through them (but they only see their own dot, and not the line they make), and the lines will still be there. The screen could be covered (lots of them) with the words *curvefever* in white, or it could be a square grid.

2. Also, a new idea for the normal powerups, both red and green is for your angle of turn to be a certain angle of a polygon. So you could collect the triangle power, and whenever you turn, you turn 60 degrees. And this could be for anything up to 8 sides. There could be also the digon powerup, so when you turn, you move right or left a little, and turn 180 degrees. This would be hjust like the square powerup.

That ninja powerup would make the game too complicated I think...
 

I have another idea: a blue Speed powerup, so everyone goes faster. Must be used with caution, if you are having the upper hand it is smart to use it, otherwise it should be left untouched.
Not sure if it was mentioned before, ctrl-f couldn't find it at least...

I was lagging pretty bad recently (dame my ISP), in fact so bad that I could see the real situation on the canvas only once in 5-10 seconds. For the rest of the time I only saw nonsense, BUT my keyboard input was getting to the server flawlessly so after those 5-10 seconds of blind keypresses I could briefly see where have I and others gone. So I began to memorize the canvas in these moments and for the next lag session ignore what is drawn on screen and play based on the last canvas state in my head and predictions of other players movements. This was pretty manageable for the first seconds, got very challenging for longer lags and was actually FUN. I was quickly improving in assessing the position of my invisible curve on the canvas.

There I got this idea of a powerup, that makes your (the enemies, everyones) curve invisible (black) for an amount of time. Lines already drawn could either stay visible or become black too (hence all the canvas becoming black).

Why I find this idea good: this would be a very skill-based (non-luck based) powerup, requiring your memory, timing assessment skills etc.

Now of course I soon found out this has already been suggested... I write this out to provide some arguments for its favor (from position of someone who already tried it :D) and drawing peoples attention, because I believe it could be really good...

new eraser powerups: 8 eraser power ups, with the eight different player colors. If you pick one, the color will be erased (like the green eraser, but now you can erase other colors too)

Good thing is the ease of implementation, as it allready exists

whole bunch of powerups for teamgames: each green powerup can be transformed to a green-team pu, that effects the whole team. so for example if you pick the green team turtle pu, all of your mates are slowed and have a small radius.

the good thing is that this will definetly increase the importance of teamplay. And the powerups can also be bad depending on the positions of your mates

new team powerup: rebirth: if in your team allready died someone, this pu will bring him back, maybe at a random point flying for a short time, so that he can manage to find a place where he "fits in".

maybe a slight improvement: as the pu could be too powerfull, the rebourne could get a timer (like 30s or so), at which's end he will die again. So he has time to tackle the enemy or improve the position of the team mates.

//or the rebourne is some kind of "undead", meaning that he will not be counted as a living player. If all of his normal teammates are dead, this team lost the round. so the enemies can and some point ignore the undead, if they have the chance to kill the living players...

hey,

- i'd like to play with the old random powerup of achtungdiekurve1

- what about a new item "the ghost" (green and/or blue): if you take the item, it will have the same effect as "big hole" on your screen, but on the other players' /other team's screen, you will be completely invisible, ( the opponents even can't see the player's head) so the enemies can't see in which direction you are going.
Of course this item would be very and maybe too mighty, so there are two options:

1. the item only lasts for a few seconds, like 5 seconds for example.

2. the item lasts longer, for example as long as "big hole", but every second or third second the player will be visible for the other players. Thus, he would be 1 sec invisible and 1sec visible (if he's visible hes drawing a line like he collected no item and plays normally). the player who collected the item would have a nice advantage, but the other players still could think about where the player is going to move because they could see the player every second second. if the player is visible, he can die because of already existing lines and he has no advantage and plays like he didn't collect "the ghost". if he's not visible, he is like in a "big hole" and the other players can't see his head. in this status he can't die.

This would be very tricky, because you would have to play very attentive as a opponent and also as the one who collects "the ghost", because you couldn't easily fly over the whole area into another room, no, every 2nd second you could die because you would be visible and susceptible for already existing lines!

i don't know if it's possible for geert to code that, but i think this would be a very tactical item!
how do you like this idea?  

- another powerup: "the skull" (green)
if you take this powerup, you will die immediately. Thus, the space, where the item is located, is immune for players. This item should appear not too often. you also could paint this item black as a symbol for death instead of green.

Rainbow:

The background changes to colours: -When only blue and red are playing,  the background get blue-red striped, when purple white red blue cyan and pink are playing, it will be purple-white-red-blue-cyan-pink striped when a player with the rainbow colour is in the game, he gets grey.- When someone crosses a line with his own colour, he and the others can't see where he has drawn a line. You need to be very careful when you pass other's stripes.

Coin-powerup:

When picked up, you receive five coins. SPAWNS ONLY WHEN THE POWERUP SET IS "SPECIAL".

Nice ideas benniegek.

I only think that Rainbow background shouldn´t be a powerup but an option when creating a room, so in fact a gamemode.

The Coin powerup is really nice in my opinion, however it is not gameplay related so I don´t know how Geert and Brouns think about this.

A powerup, and when picked, your screen zooms in at your snake. The screen follows the movements of your snake, when turned left (or right, ofcourse) your sceen follows it.

   - When you have three snakes or more, the screen zooms out till you can see all of them. It doesn't follow your movements.

 

Crown: Blue.  

 

A random person gets a crown on the head of his snake. If he dies within five seconds, everyone else gets three points.

Dear developers. I really don't know, where to write it, maybe this topic is good for it.:

If somebody joins to a room with an item, that wasn't owned by anybody else earlier there, it gets activated automatically. And it's really annoying, since as host I want to decide, which ittem to use, and which not. (For example, when somebody joins as last with the new item, it's not so easy to notice, and can ruin the game) If by any chance, you can do something with this in the next update, I will be very happy.

Could you make the selected PU's more visible in the room? I believe most ppl don't really look up to that bar where it says x/25. Instead you could just display all selected ones as mini-icon's somwhere, e.g. below the room-name or above the 'game actions'..

What about a blue powerup wich let all other powerups disappear?

A Water-Splash. If you get this blue Powerup, it will create a ring with a radius of the "no draw area" powerup. But you Unlike the "no draw area" powerup can draw on this until the time has expired. Then every player and lines will be in the area of sphere erased. (Sorry. My english is not so good and I used google translate.)

This powerup is green and when you get it, you will be automatically teleported to an 1v1 scale area without any powerups, but with a lot of place. Like eraser, this powerup can't respawn to often.

i have an idea for a new powerup: you can make yourself inviseble. maybe that can in the game? nothing in the game can see you. and as invisble is out, you see yourself, and then you begins a new line.

Powerups for which you need more keys are - as far as I know - not wanted because they're difficult to implement and there are problems with several players playing on one keyboard. And how should the game know where you want to jump?

I like the idea of random Power Up (someone wrote it). Red Power Up with question mark.

I would also make green version of french cheese, because now it is red power up, which helps your opponents not to hit other players... It saved my neck many times. Smile

Is there also discussion about Power ups itselves? There is no searching in forum and it looks like total chaos for me. I find the finger and old snakey are imbalanced in team mode. You pick it, you usualy win the round. Then it is not about skill, but about luck.

Rainbow Xplosion - When 2 or more players kill themself when they hit each other there will be a liquid rainbow explosion slowly cover up the field from where the players have hit each other. The power up is a rainbow colored bomb and works the whole game.

A  red magnet powerup

If it is taken there will be a magnet on the place where it is taken.

All players will be attracted to the magnet.

 

Example: If a player is moving to the magnet it will get faster.

If a player will move away from the magnet they will get slower.

If the magnet is right of a player they will be attracted to the right.

Blue:
an item that destroys other items
-all items get destroyed
-some get ..
- all the red/green/blue get..

Green/Blue/Red:
ur holes move from ur end to ur 'mouth'
-only for the holes where nobody passed
- till the user die or for each hole till somebody passd it

Blue:
opposite of dark item
- u can see ur point but not the field around u 

Blue/Green:
special change item
- u change place with somebody who died!
- in team only with ur teammates
- u continue at the place where ur mate died
- in ffa u can help someone with that and maybe urself too
- after change place the lines fly for some tim like change pu
idk maybe not possible cuz of the pointsystem :l

Green:
special no-line pu
- u take it and ur line will be a no-line area
- the area goes till u touched the pu
- maybe make it a bit bigger than normal line woulb be too hard get throw if the one who took had thin xD

You don't make holes if the powerup is collected. Because it's negative, the colour of this powerup is red or blue. (It's the opposide of the "Cheese"-Powerup [sorry I forgot the name so can somebody tell me what is the name of this powerup. Thank you Smile ].)

For campers it accually is positive. I think it should be green.

Yes, it can save you sometimes, but with that pu you can make a camp very easily.

Invisible

Could be green (on you) , red (on all the others) or blue (on all) .

The snake gets invisible for a very short time...the line goes on!

 

Clockwise (blue)

You may call it the chaos-item. The hole field rotates (clockwise) around the midpoint of the field....with the snakes and lines and items..the items maybe not?
