Here is my suggestion.

Most of the ideas are good but I think that it is too soon to put those modes in the game, the reason I am saying this is that if you put those modes in the game now, the games that wwe play these days will become rare therefore it will become boring if you play with the same players all the time. My point is that the more modes you have the fewer players you will have in every mode therefore less competitive games and less games at all per mode. This game does not gave enough active players at this time to expand in terms of new modes. You have 2 modes at the moment and you have players that play either only team or only ffa, so if you have lets say 20000 active players(which I doupt, just an example) imagine if you put 20 new modes you would separate the players into many fractions therefore lessen the games and in long term lose players.

Of course this is just my opinion and though these modes are interesting there must be alot more players playing this game to do this.

I think you are completely right.

The idea of this topic and the powerup topic was to list all ideas in one thread, so there wouldn't be like 30 threads about different powerup ideas. That would be very hard to comment on.
Ofcourse there is also the intention from me and everyone who has submitted an idea to get these into the game. However, this doesn't mean all items on the list will get into the game soon. Three reasons. First, not all suggestions are good enough or possible. Second, Geert and Brouns need to create these gamemodes and this takes time. Third, it isn't smart to overwhelm everyone with loads of new gamemodes and powerups in 1 update, this should be spreaded and will take time too.

I got inspired for the following game mode in the Great Power-up Topic, but this will be a distinct (team)game-mode. I think this game-mode works best for team-games:

Each team has to collect the words 'Curve Fever' (so 1C, 1U, 2R, 2V, 3E, 1F) by collecting these randomly spawned (blue) letters. If you already have the maximum number of letters, you can still take it to prevent the other team of getting it. A round continious untill either all players are dead (then the next round starts) or the word is collected by one team and the game ends.

So it is a normal team-game, but this collecting-objective replaces the 'First to reach 10' game end. In addition to make this game more fun, 3 sorts of powerups should be made soley for this game:

Green X : Get a missing letter for your team.

Red X : Remove a letter from other team.

Blue X : Both teams get a missing letter. (This one is to be used carefull: wise if your team is up front, but to be avoided if your team is behind, like the blue eraser: also to be used with care.)

 

How do you people think about this? Seems hell of a lot of fun to me, but off course all opinions are welcome!

hey pandemic, nice idea in my opinion, but 1 question:

you have to collect quite many letters for 1 round, so what happens if somone dies? if the people who are dying stay dead for the whole round I think it would be easier just trying to kill the opponent team xD

-> what about a respawn system (e.g. if you die, you will respawn after 10 seconds...)

Yes a respawn system is really a good idea. Then you have to wait and the other team can collect Blum 3

 No, a respawn option would spoil the gameplay, as it would get way too crowded. And you don't have to collect all letters in 1 round, but in 1 game! So:

Round 1:

-Team A collects -C,R,2E- and then dies.

-Team B collected -2R,2E,V- and wins -> 1 extra needed letter, let's say a V (didn't mention this one before, forgot that).

So A (C-R-E    -E---) and B (--RVE   -EV-R)

Round 2:

-Team A collects -2C,E,R- and wins ->extra needed letter, say an F.

-Team B sucked this round, only collect an E.

So A (C-R-E   FE-ER) and B (--RVE   -EVER)

Round 3:

-Team A collects (2E,C,R,V) wins -> get an extra needed V

-Team B collected (2C, F)

So A (C-RVE  FEVER) and B (C-RVE FEVER)

Round 4:

Who get's the first U or kills the other team first (cause then u also get a U, since that's the only left letter) wins!

 

Did I make it more clear this way? Respawning would spoil the gameplay, as you can rush and do suicide all the time and no-one likes noobs rushing and ruining your precious game! If your teams survives a round, you get a bonus letter which you still need.

Really good suggestion Pandemic. The respawn feature is indeed unnecessary if you explain it like this, but I think I can conclude that this gamemode is of short length. This is actually a good thing imo, because the current gamemodes are quite lengthy.

I'll add your idea to the list! :)

Thanks for adding me to the list. And yes, it is indeed a pro of this gamemode that it is a 'quick game', but if you set the spawn-probability of the letters low and the spawn probability of a red X high (so removing opponent's letters), you can lengthen the game quite a bit!

Btw: could you add this to the gameplay description in the first topic post for a more complete description: 'The team who wins a round gets a missing letter as a bonus, so staying alive as long as possible is as important as in a regular team-game!'. Thanks Smile

Je speelt als normaal, maar dan zonder ronde bochten. Iedereen begint met bochten van 90 graden.

 

Er zijn twee (eventueel extra) soorten powerups:

ROOD: (+10) (-10)

GROEN: (+10) (-10)

 

Stel je voor je bochten zijn 90 graden:  je pakt een groene powerup met daarop +10 graden; maak je bochten van 100 graden. Pak je er nu nog een dan maak je bochten van 110 graden. Al komt je getal hoger dan 150 of lager dan 30 graden, ga je verder aan de andere kant:  je hebt 150 je pakt +10 dan wordt je hoek 30 graden

 

Bij het "hoofd" van de curve staan altijd twee 50% ingekleurde lijntjes die aangeven hoe steile bochten je gaat maken als je naar links of naar rechts stuurt:

32.1 In this gamemode you play with 90° corners instead of the normal round curve.
Powerups like Sharp Corners are disabled, instead this gamemode adds 4 extra powerups that manipulate rotation:

  • +10° (red): adds 10° to the rotation of other players.
  • -10° (red): substracts 10° from the rotation of other players.
  • +10° (green): adds 10° to your own rotation.
  • -10° (green): substracts 10° from your own rotation.

If your rotation gets higher than 150°, it turns around to 30°. The same counts if you get lower than 30°, it turns around to 150°.
At the head of your curve are two subtile indicators that tell you what kind of turn you will make when your press left or right.

this may be suggested before but i think its Dirol if there is different max point games like small 1/2, normal and long 2x. so if you play 6 players game you get 5 points by winning round but points to win game are 25, 50 or 100.

I have heard something like this before, still I especially like the idea of shorter games (1/2). Sometimes I want to play a game in 3 minutes, but that is not possible currently. I think a slider would be perfect to increase gamelength or decrease it.

I thought about a gamemode,

 

Snake gamemode

 

Everyone moves like a snake around the field (snake powerup). Diamonds will appear on the screen. When you pick up a diamond your line will grow a bit. You wil get one point. When you pick up your second diamond you will grow a little bit more. You will get two points. When you pick up your third powerup, you will get three points. And so on... 

 

You will die when you hit on of the walls or a snake. You will start again with the small snake. Now, you will start again with your combos but you will hold the amount of points you reached. Who first hits 50 points wins the game.

I really like that idea benniegek! But 50 points seems a like lot to me that way, since as soon as someone is starting to win, everyone will focus on him/her and the game will never end. Better to make the gamet like this in my opinion:

When you pick up a diamond/blue circle you grow 1 in size, but the amount of points you get is your length +1.

  • So length 0, you pick up 1 is 1 point.
  • Then the next one is worth 2 points, so totalling 3.
  • After 5 diamonds you have 1+2+3+4+5 = 15 points.
  • Then you die for some reason (crashing/getting killed), your length goes back to 0 and the amounts of points you get starts at 1, but your score remains at 15 points.
  • Next 2 diamonds are 1+2 points, plus the 15 adding to 18.
  • Etc.

If it goes like that, then first to 50 is possible, as staying alive is still awarded but games will not take forever to finish.

Hey, first of all , nice job doing the post, must have taken a lot of time :P.

Second, are suggestions still open ? if so, i would like to add a little variation of 21 ( or 29, both are very similar), you could make the "kill the player" by teams, so team Dirol has to kill a random member of team hot, and viceversa. i dont know if it is already suggested( if so, please excuse me, im stupid :P), as i havent payed A LOT of attention while reading the post xD.

new Gamemode: All Powerups are not popping up as they do now (randomly on the screen as big round symbols), they will be popping up very small sized in the holes of the snakes. To activate it you have to drive through the whole hole!

New game enhancement for players that allready died in the round:

Dont know what exactly that could be, but it would be nice if the dead players somehow can play against each other to get little improvements for their living mates on the normal playfield. Some kind of mini game (it has to be even more mini than ADK ;p )

  1 player frees for few second and the rest of the team are gettin a few seconds to close him in, then after that few seconds the other team freezes and that 1 person have to escape trough the other lines towards a checkpoint? xd

i thought last night about this game mode, I would call it "Hunting"
 

1 player versus 3 or 4 opponents (depands which items are included red/green or both).
the single player starts in any case with the green through wall item - so he can't be killed to easy at the very beginning of the game
only the single player can collect items - the team have to play without them
the rest is pretty obvious: if the team wins, it get the point - if the surviver wins, he'll get the point

i have an idea! you can make a gamemode: survive/PVP. you want to kill the others, all what you want to do is to shoot him die. and as you kill a other, you win. there are also new powerups for that: you can shoot others dead, and there are better 'shield' powerups, and more... it's not i good idea : p but, i want to show it. I know it is pvp, but make a new gamemode for special pvp.

What about a gamemode you get rankpoints every single round?

 

Rooms are allways in 100 steps and given by the server, so: 1000-1100 / 1100-1200 and so on...

these rooms will allways be there and if its full and one leaves the next one comes in immediately.

the game has to have min 4 players.

Then the winner gets 1 point and the last gets -1.

for exp: the normal full size field is 5x6 make one 4x6 or 5x5 or sth
fields in other colours so black color can be used as well?

I like the Equal Sqaures Mode (#16) and would like to establish the scoring method of it.

-Each round is timed. When you die in your square, it shows how many seconds you survived.

-They're 5 rounds. Your time is added to previous rounds. And whoever has the highest time at the end is declared the winner.

-No powerups

Tip: Don't make squares too big to the point where it gets boring.

You can make a leaderboard of the highest times in this game mode.

Also, I thought of my own mode.

They're red circles (shaped like powerups) that move across the map. These circles keep spawning at insane rates. If you hit one of the circles you are out. Also, instead of leaving a trail behind you, you are just a dot(like you are after a switch powerup is taken)
