Introduction & Rules
Hello everybody!
In October/November we are starting a new project, which we are going to do once a year. It is very simple and is called the "Curve Olympics".
Let me tell you some more about it: There will be six tournaments during the whole November:

Tournament #1: 1 vs 1, Items: None, 25th of October 2014, 20:00 CEST
Sign Up: 20th - 24th of October 2014
Tournament #2: 2 vs 2, Items: Thin, 26st of October 2014, 20:00 CEST
Sign Up: 20th - 24th of October 2014
Tournament #3: FFA, Items: Mixed, 1st of November 2014, 20:00 CET
Sign Up: 27th - 31st of October 2014
Tournament #4: 3 vs 3, Items: Speed, 2nd of November 2014, 20:00 CET
Sign Up: 27th - 31st of October 2014
Tournament #5: 4 vs 4, Items: Special, 8th of November 2014, 20:00 CET
Sign Up: 3rd - 7th of November 2014
After the first five tournaments are played, we will have a look on the rank list. The best 16 players will have a chance to be the first Curve Olympics Champion by collecting some more points (ALL six Tournaments count, not only the last one!
Tournament #6: FFA, Items: Thin, 9th of November 2014, 20:00 CET

Your task is it, to collect as much points as possible. For winning a tournament, you (and your teammate(s)) will get 20 points. In the FFA tournament, the best 16 players will get points. In a Team tournament, the best 8 teams.
Details:
FFA Tournament:
1st Place: 20 Points, 2nd Place: 18 Points, 3rd Place: 16 Poins, 4th Place: 15 Points, 5th Place: 14 Points, 6th Place: 13 Points, 7th Place: 12 Points, 8th Place: 11 Points, Semi-Finalists: 6 Points
1v1 Tournament:
1st Place: 20 Points, 2nd Place: 18 Points, 3rd Place: 16 Poins, 4th Place: 14 Points, 5th-8th Place: 10 Points, 9th Place - 16th Place: 5 Points
Team Tournaments (2v2 and 3v3):
1st Place: 20 Points, 2nd Place: 17 Points, 3rd Place: 14 Points, 4th Place: 11 Points, Quater-Finalists (Group Stage loser): 6 Points
Team Tournaments (4v4):
1st Place: 20 Points, 2nd Place: 15 Points, 3rd Place: 10 Points, 4th Place: 5 Points
The player, which has collected the most points after the six tournaments, will receive a special exclusive title and one year Premium. The second and third placed will also receive Prizes.
There are also some rules to make it fair:

- Of course you don't need to play in every tournament.
- In the FFA tournament, the Items will change in every round between Thin, None Special and Speed.
- Premium is needed like in every tournament
- General rules are the same as in every tournament

Maybe change it into "tournament", because if you say "FFA tournament" but then add (and your teammate(s)) it means with teammates in FFA tournament. You just have to say it in general "tournament" then nobody understand it wrong or as mistake.
It is a realy nice idea and i hope a lot of people will play it.

I´d prefer random teams, because it would be more fair...
We don't like random teams because if your mate doesn't show up, it destroys your points as well, that wouldn't be fair.

I'm impressed, i maybe underestimated u marloes. Its a great idea. :)
But u should make a poll about the dates, because maybe ppl would prefer Friday and Saturday instead of Saturday and Sunday, tough the CF-Olympics would start in october then.
there are everytime people who cant play. at last 3 tournaments i couldn't play. so i thing we shouldn't discuss much about this. if you are good enough 3 tournaments could bring you 60 points and you are propably one of the best 16

Friday and Saturday would be impossible for me and Depp to manage it, because of work, so thats why we had to choose Saturday and Sunday.
I think its hard to find 6 teammates so there will be a big problem for the players with 3 clanmates or less

I think the olympic games are a nice idea, but with that team-system i will not participate, because i do not see any chance than...
which kind of system do you mean? We removed the rule with the different team partner in every tournament. And the system at all isnt fixed, we want suggestions from the user :)

Great. I read this post (on the main page), and continue reading until I get to the bottom. I'm glad that the CF team were so considerate, that I got my hopes up until I read "premiums only" at the bottom. Thanks a lot.
In future, I'd (and I'm sure many others would) appreciate it if you'd specify which players you are aiming the announcement for (ie. premium in this case). It really is annoying when this is done.

We want to reach every player with this post. Not only the Premium ones. Maybe some users are interested in this event and are going to buy Premium after reading it. And lets be honest, this post is read in about 1 minute..
Also it is well-known, that every kind of tournament which is official is for Premiums only. Otherwise users would register with thousand of different accounts. We, the normal moderators can't check IP's due to privacy reasons.

Not smartest point distribution per places. There must be huge difference between top places and 5or 6th place its not kindeergarden contest. Winner is way better than others he deserves credit for it..
Depp: I know that CF want to reach every player with this post. But it would be nice if we could know that premiums only can join the tourny at the TOP of the post.
Also, I don't consider it a well known fact. It's not officially stated anywhere, and in the past, there have been tournaments which non-premiums could play in for free.
I'm not criticising the fact that non-premiums can't join, it's just that I would rather it be stated at the top that we can't join.

those tournaments weren't official. for example lets take gilnashs tournament. he gave us nice prices and everythin, but it wasn't official. there was just the reward at end but no champion title or anything else. and tournaments were you can read "official" are always for only premium

In this olimpic tourney can i play 2v2 with player "x" and 3v3 play also with player "x" ? or i have to search player "y" and player "z"?

You really have to advertise this better if you want to make this Curve Olympics a big and successful thing. Maybe on the homepage you can replace that huge curve fever banner with a new Curve Olympics banner(made by the design person) so people see it when they are on the homepage. Also, you can replace the Promote Curve fever banner ingame with the Curve Olympics banner As well. Some people never come on the forum so there has to be a way to get promotion inside the actual game, not just the forum. I remember for one tournament a few months back Geert made a picture with a small link inside the game which linked directly to the sign ups and surprise surprise that was the biggest tourney in cf because it was always there when you were playing ingame so you were always reminded of it. Honestly, I just found out about this Olympics thing today.....
well I think this is great idea I will add. good job marloes. You are a good mod by making this cool idea. I'm in for sure. I can be in charge of the prizes

Players who can play in every tournament have an advantage on others, don't they?
I mean, if a player wins the first tournament but can't play any other, he will still score less points than a random player ending up in top 16 in the five tourneys. That doesn't seem very fair..
i have a little idea, where you could think about it: all the winners of the tournaments come to 6. tournament+ the left players with best points. so if there are winners: A,B,C,A,D: then there are A,B,C and D, in 6. round + the 12 players with best points

Do i stand a chance of winning if i don't participate in all the tournaments?
Yes, every teammember gets the same amount of points.
Of course you don't need to play every tournament!
