Heya PsyPhy, could you send a mail to gerkesatcurvefever.com with the EXACT issue and your specs

Include the following:

What is the issue (fps lag, network lag? does your ping actually change or stay the same?)

When does it start, does it eve stop?

PC Specs (cpu, memory), Software (browser, flash version, os)

And last, do you have this issue only on your own pc, using your own account? or Also on other pc's, if so, again, only with your account or any account?

Hi!

I have been having bad internet often and lately it seems that I do not experience lag jump anymore, simply that red box saying my internet is slow.

Has the Lag Jump been removed by one of the recent updates?

There is no pause for laggy players any more. If your internet connection is too bad (ping too high etc.) then your inputs will simply be rejected.

Hi everyone!

Is there anybody else who has vertical red lines in Toggle Stats? I have it since a few month and with it lags too. My Internetconnection is about 85mb/sec and i also tested different flash versions and standalone and different browsers, too.

It would be very nice if anyone can help me or just know this problem with vertical (only) red lines in Toggle Stats!

Best regards,

Red lines mean that your internet has dropped. The red lines indicate your connection to another server which is not Curve Fever. So if you cannot connect to another server for this time, then of course it's likely you cannot connect to Curve Fever either.

Thank you for your quick answer. I understand and i think the problem is that i'm always over the university network in the internet, because in my home there is only uni internetconnection, so maybe there are problems and i cannot do anythink against it Sad I will try other internetconnections!

Here some screens with different browser:

Especially in speed game lags are very frequent and the game is really unplayable. What's the problem? My internet? My PC? Your server?

A shared connection, especially one of that potential size, could always have some issues on a game like this where a constant connection is required, color. Perhaps you could contact your university IT support and give them a sample screenshot of that and say what's going on, maybe they have some advice on why you get these random packet losses (the red lines basically).

Bomberman, your toggle stats appear fine. If your game is unplayable then you may have an issue with Flash Player. Can you describe how you believe it's unplayable? Is there a time delay between pressing your key and the snake reacting? Give me some more details, thanks.

For example one player is going up and the next moment he's in front of me,another is next to me and after few seconds he's away. I can't see where other players are going cause instantly they change position on the screen.

Well given the toggle stats above, that is indeed not normal. Is there any chance you can make a video of the "lagging" with the toggle stats in view showing your ping? We are aware of some syncing problems which could be the cause of some lagging. Have you tried logging out and back in? (The engineer solution!)

ok still lag for over 2 months, like i wrote long time ago in this topic, circles and stuff. beta version or anything else doesnt even work a bit.srsly how can it take you months to fix this???? i am so angry ffs

Kaito kid.,

It was already highlighted that you were having issues from your internet. The red lines in your screenshot indicate that you cannot connect to a server somewhere else which is NOT Curve Fever. So it is likely you cannot use Curve Fever either. I suggest you contact your ISP, as you appear to be having some significant packet losses.

Yeah i will try. I have a screenshot of a speedtest. Is it possible that the problem is the high number of hops between me and the provider? And do you know a speedtest which tests, if i loose packages?

As far as I know, these speed tests take your optimum/average results and do not take into account your packet losses. So it's a good gauge of whether your internet is working in general.....but for a game like Curve Fever where a constantly STABLE internet connection is required, then I'm not sure this kind of test is really relevant.

I know that pingtest.net do a packet loss test. I'm not sure on it's reliability though.

Argelite, that red line means you could not connect to a reference server which IS NOT Curve Fever. So you lost connection to CF too. That looks to me as a very unstable internet connection.

Just for your interest: I still have the lag problem since the Feb 11 update when I play on my own computer (Win 7, no matter which Flash version I use - 15, 16, or 17). In contrast, using a friend's computer within the same network, I don't seem to have the problem, which shows that my connection is fine.

However, I observe more and more players seem having the same problem I have on my own computer since 11 Feb. Maybe CF is incompatible with some Windows update during the last few months. At the moment, I think about 30% of all players start lagging heavily after a few minutes, but their number increases from week to week - maybe after some Windows update becomes active. I fear the game will be unplayable in a few weeks because almost everybody will lag then.

If you don't find and fix this bug, I promise you will kill the game within a few months.

Such a negative comment for no reason. You said there was no problem with your friend's computer on the same network - that means you have computer issues. And 30% of all players is overkill on a level I cannot even fathom to explain.

Offline

I said that there was no problem with my own computer until the update came, which clearly indicates that the update introduced this problem, in particular it is not due to my network because the problem does not occur when I'm using a different computer. My observation is that more and more players have the same problem - maybe due to Windows or Adobe updates, or whatever. Yesterday I recorded the following videos to show what I mean. Believe me that almost every speed game looks more or less like this:

Video 1: https://vid.me/wEOt

Video 2: https://vid.me/K4Dk

Is this the future of CF?

Ok, now that we know what is happening, we can begin to work on this. (Btw, this is a very rare problem). Given the information you provided, it is only logical to me that there your computer configuration is causing this. Obviously we need to figure out exactly what that is. I'm going to try and organise something between you and one other user who I know has this problem frequently, then maybe we can deduce some sort of similarity.

Is this acceptable by you?

Tranquility.

Offline

It's acceptable for me. I just wish to clarify that in those laggy games all players complain about the same problem - not only me. Here is another game from today which cost me 30 team points: https://vid.me/0yso - I guess Team Hot has the same problem as I have when playing with my other computer...

If you're going to use the standalone, you'll need to enter "http://curvefever.com/CF_Preloader.swf" mate.

Is anyone experiencing a high ping (130-200ms average) right now in-game? I tried three different pingtests and I'm pretty convinced it's not my connection, but if it's not serverside either I don't know what the culprit could be. Tried both in browser (Chrome) and standalone (v15) by the way.

Hey!

I have this :

What is this supposed to mean? I'm in online servers very often and I never ever had a single lag problem, only with curve fever.

Oh my goodness! How long have you been having this problem?

Offline

A week ago everything was fine, but in last some days I had these problems and I was trying everything, I use the standalone flash projector version, I've got wired internet, 4mbps, I turned off the wifi on the router, I try to refresh/rejoin, but I don't think I can do anything because as I said, I don't have any problems elsewhere (for example online racing, 90min long race on server with 20 others and zero problems with lag).

Here it gets worse and worse, at some point of the game I can write messages and they appear 15 seconds after I press enter, if I try to rejoin sometimes I click "ok" to rejoin and nothing happens... But otherwise at toggle stats everything seems perfectly fine without any fluctuations, except for those big green and red towers when they appear.

Hi remikoss,

Your download and upload speeds don't really tell the full story. Could you show a screenshot of your toggle stats? Also do you play on wi-fi?

Your ping is quite unstable :/ And also 153ms is pretty high. What do you get from speedtest.net (to a server in Ireland)?

I did a pingtest to Poland (I'm from the UK) and it was below 50ms. So even 93ms seems a bit high at first glance. I think you have a latency issue.

but how i can fix that? i play at many multi games and there is no problem... -.-

Other games can 'hide' a little bit of lag. It's pretty difficult here at Curve Fever. I'm not a technical expert so one of the devs would need to recommend some things for more of an insight.

Out of curiosity, what browser do you run?

Offline
ffa eu top 3.9%

opera. i have the same problem on chrome. my friend has 50mb/s and he can play without any lags. i have no idea what i need to do.

Make sure you are using the NPAPI Flash Player plugin and not the PPAPI version. The PPAPI version can be slower. I'm not really certain that's the root of your problem though. (On the latest versions of Chrome you cannot use this flash player version, only PPAPI).

i have npapi. and i still cant play. i have no idea ;/

Offline

same problem here as remikoss.

i have a new, decent laptop, great internet.

at first the game was running perfect, like never before, but since a week, or two slows started to appear really often, like one in every 1-2 rounds. is there anything i could do beside not playing anymore? i was using the downloadable version, then the flashplayer 16 and 13 standalone.

Thanks for help

Wi-fi can be that way sometimes. Sometimes it's as simple as moving your router or where you sit in your house.

Why is it unavailable to you? If it's distance then you can always get adapters to transmit ethernet through your electrical sockets. That's what I do!

In other words I highly recommend wired connections for CF.
