Disable chat for spectators

Sorry, if this is something already suggested, but I think it would be really good (especially for tournaments), if the host could disable the chat for every spectators. In every tournament for the last few matches there are tons of spectators, and they generate a huge amount of messages (and a lot of spam also...but you know this well :D ), which can be very irritating for the players.

And I believe this is a really easy feature to implement.

Mute button in spects would be nice, some of them can be annoying

@ Sadness. You can mute somebody with writing: /mute accountname

@ szentvik   semi finals, playoffs and finals are always locked, so nobody without the new password can join the room. For now, is my personal opinion, there are more important things to do. If you get irritated by the chat, you can just click on "observers" and you won't see the chat anymore

@NOWODNY

If you follow a friend to the password-protected room, you don't need the password (correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is how I get in one of the semi-finals in the latest tournament as a spectator). So if someone has many friend, (s)he probably can find one, who also can find one...until this line reach someone already in the room.

To switch to the "observers", can be good in FFA tournaments, but in team ones, the communication between the members can be useful, so you can easily miss that. But I was never in a situation to play in these rounds of any tournaments, so I can only imagine this scenario :D

Anyway, it is just a suggestion, I can agree this isn't the most urgent thing to do.

@szentvik in finals you can't bypass that just because you're friends with someone in the room. You still need to go to the room and type in the password.

It would be good though if the host could kick an "observer" even in-game. And just like when you kick someone from the room, they need to wait a minimum of 1 minute or so before they could re-join.

Actually Momo, any player can join a password protected room as long as they are friends with someone in it. However, moderators can lock the rooms which means friendlists cannot bypass the password settings. That is why most tournament finals etc have no spectators (and after the absolutetly disgraceful behaviour in the clan tournament yesterday, this will be upheld for the remainder of the olympics). Congratulations to the players who ruined that for the rest of the innocent users.

As for the idea itself, I would like such a thing too. But I can understand that CF has more important things to work on currently. But even so, perhaps this could be limited to a moderator only function.

What Racuine mentioned is a workaround, yes.

False, if your friends with someone you can join a PW protected room a friend of you MADE. Not when hes in a PW protected room of someone else.

A function for host to mute observers completely would be nice, but not to restrict them from talking.

You are false!

In general there are several cases:

1. password protected room without a friend in  (not important if locked or not)

-> you need pw to join

2. password protected room with a friend in (not locked)

-> you can join it always

3. password protected room with a friend in (locked)

-> you need pw to join

It isn't important if your friend is the host or not/made the room or not. If a room is locked by a moderator(can be done always, not important if mod is/was host or not) you can't join this room.

To your idea, i think it would be to much power for a host.

Example: Host = A, Observers = B,C,D,E

A, B and D are friends and C and E are friends. C and B insult each other -> A mutes C, E -> talk friendly and want to protect C -> Host mutes E, B continues insulting and won't be muted by the host ---> missuse of the mute-power
