Deleted accounts won't be restored anymore

Dear players,

As you all know, you can delete your account on Curve Fever. This is irreversible and has always been irreversible.

As some of you also know, we did sometimes restore accounts in the past, because we felt sorry for the users who have deleted their accounts and wanted to return playing. The truth is, that restoring an account is manual work that takes quite a lot of effort and time. This time we could rather spent on bug fixing and improving our game. Therefore we made the decission that from now on, we don't restore accounts anymore.

We also want to note, that if you share your password with strangers, then they can alter your email and password and delete the account for you. In this case you lost your account. So we highly recommend you to not share your account with anybody, as we won't restore deleted accounts by people who shared their passwords.

I deleted my 2nd account because I wanted to use my email for an another account. Why is the website still telling me that the email is used when I deleted the account?

Because we only implemented the freeing of emails today.

We fixed this. From now on, when you delete an account, your email will also be freed.

Best regards,

Geert

Pleaides, it wasn't an opinion. It was a pointless comment. Back to subject now please.

Good decision in my opinion :)

Also we freed up all current account emails that have been deleted.

I recommend that emails are made "locked" and cannot be changed (maybe only with some token or something), this would prevent other people to delete your account.

Hello, i don't know if I post this message in the right topic, no problem if u delete it

I voluntarily deleted my account "DiECi" (  http://curvefever.com/user/1026091 ) , to recreate after.

But i have this problem who nobody can see my new account (well i don't care but that's quite ugly) "Dieci" ( http://curvefever.com/user/1848882/ ).
Can you do something about it ?7

Thanks

No worries there, when an email is changed, you have to repeat your password to confirm it. Just dont give anyone your password and its good ;)

Well that's exactly what I'm asking :D An email should be replaced only with old email's confirmation or not even that.

And what if someone hacks your account and delete it?

They can only hack your account when they acquire your password. And acquiring your password is only possible when you tell your password. So better not share your passwords anymore!

Can't hack also happen without telling your password? Happened to me in alot of games.

Not possible in our case ;) However they can play on your account if you stay logged in on a computer offcourse.

You should make email tokens or something to secure unauthorized changing of email adress (meaning you can only change your email with your old email's confirmation). This way only the owner can keep your account safe on the long term. Even though someone loggs in to your account and changes password, you can reset the password with your email and you get back the control of your account.

What about this ?

- When you change your e-mail you need to confirm that not with your password but with randomize generated for example 8 character code which would be split. First 4 letters would be send to first e-mail and last 4 letters in second (new e-mail).

Kind regards

You should make it so you have to confirm through email to delete an account or something

Yeah but if somebody has your password, he can delete your account simply by changing the email...

And the password is properly hashed and salted in our database. We don't know your password, nobody knows your password... unless you share it with someone. So that is why we say: Think twice before sharing your password!

I know, but my point is still, why can be email changed unlimited times? No one here does that except the ones who want to delete somebody's account so why not locking the email adress and avoid all troubles?

It's in there simply because people do change their email sometimes. Maby someone made an account with a bogus email just to play, but later wants to change it so he/she can buy something in the store. Or maby you just want to change mail.
Either way, as long as you do not share you password, your account is totally safe.

I'm not sure what is bugged with you, my account was never bugged. I got a life time premium for winning several tournaments and I had to wait a long time for my prize, so I got it as a special. Don't name me if YOU have no idea. @scherbatsky

Yes i agree with Curv, on steam for example if you logon a new IP, it says you have a cooldown ban for 7 days and you have to verify it via email, this is good because we could set the deletion of accounts for a 14day cooldown from logging on or sort somethign out?

hey, chinox and I have a great idea.

Just remove the button, deleting accounts = pointless, so why let people even do it? ;D

Tranquility.'s account has been deleted by error. We strongly need him in the team that's why the account has been given back asap. We also restored some others accounts (for random players) since the new rule has been posted recently, so don't start saying it's a shame or any other « blabla ». Like every new rule, we can't apply the rule from the begining (when it has been posted), simply because there is a minority of players who read the forum and most of them are not informed about this new rule.

As a reminder of the background here, this new rule has been posted because the support team received more and more mails about restoring accounts (which need the developers intervention). The developers have enough work with fixing bugs, implementing new stuffs, etc. so if they start spending more time in restoring accounts you can clearly see the problem.

Following these two points, there will be less and less restoring accounts (down to 0). So these exceptions will not come into existence in the future.

Best wishes

Actually, some people use the email changing for an other reason than deleting their account. Like my father, he changed his email adress recently because he switched to a new internet provider. So if he couldn't change his email adress... He isn't a CF member, but I just want to point something out here.
