Curve Fever is looking for languages!

Countdown 2.0

Hi guys! As the first batch of countdown recordings were released, we received mixed feedback regarding this new implementation.

Random Voice or Selection?

Some people were preferring the good old beeping sound, whilst others loved voices. One remark in general that we received is that everyone would like to be able to pick their own language, or just the beeping sound, instead of receiving a random voice upon game start. This is probably going to change. Meaning: An update where you can select the voice of your preference. Multiple voices per country is an option.

Recording Quality

One other remark we received is that not every recording is of sufficient quality. We will take sharper notice on that and raise the bar for submissions.

Existing submitters may ask themselves the following questions:

Is my voice heard clearly?

Is there any background noise blocking my voice?

Is my accent correct? Am I articulating everything correctly?

Feel free to continue submitting recordings :-).

For some more advise, see this youtube tutorial on how-to record with a basic microphone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0uecCDqikY

Please note that I edit every submissioned recording in order to synchronise the timings, while I also optimize every recording. (Normalise, Equalise, Compress, Noise Removal, Hard Limiter and Bass/Treble Boost.) This means it's only natural that you'd see your own recording back, but slightly altered.

Enthusiasms

Some voices are fairly sterile. Please do not forget that we are all playing a fun and exciting game! :-) Show a little enthusiasm in your voice, imagine you're presenting on a fair!

As always,

Pieter

>>UPGRADE TIME<<

Commissions are now closed. We expect an in-game update soon.

Hello lovely people!

You guys are all great!

There have been so many submissions so far that we have to add a limit to the amount of recordings per country: Three male voices and three female voices. Please see the headlines per country below at the submissions to see how full a country is. (E.g.: Dutch (M: 1/3 F: 0/3) means that we still need 2 male recordings and 3 female recordings.)

If your language is not on this list I encourage you to record your voice, too!

We are still looking for:

MALE

Dutch 2x

English 3x

French 2x

Greek  2x

Hebrew 2x

Hungarian 1x

Italian 2x

Japanese 2x

Polish 1x

Spanish 1x

FULL: Swedish, Slovakian

FEMALE

Dutch 3x

English 2x

French 3x

German 3x

Greek 3x

Hebrew 3x

Hungarian 2x

Italian 3x

Japanese 3x

Polish 3x

Slovakian 3x

Spanish 3x

Swedish 3x

FULL: None

update for all English speakers: As requested, please record your voice saying "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, GO" instead of "START"! Thank yooou.

For a new countdown sound, we are looking for people willing to record counting down in their own language, namely:

"Five"

"Four"

"Three"

"Two"

"One"

"Start" (In your own language if possible!)

I would like to have the countdown in your own, native language.

Easy isn't it? :) Just record these words separately, clearly and shout them if possible, then send them to me (or post them in this topic!). This is your chance for your voice to become famous, so please don't hesitate to participate! Digital cakes all around for those willing to share their voice.

Don't worry if your language is already taken: We need multiple people per language.

I will keep track of the records so far per language in this post.

Wetansferring is possible! Send the transfer to: sourceatpieterbron.nl

Kind Regards,

Pieter

Use this software for recording if you haven't got any: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Please export the recording as a .wav file (File > Export > Select "WAV (Microsoft) signed 16 bit PCM" ) and send that file to me, then all should be fine.

.wma, .mp3 or other music extensions are fine too if you happen to use some other recording software.

Please check if your language is recorded properly. I am a Dutch person with knowledge in Dutch, English and German, so I have no clue if people are doing it right or wrong.

Awesome idea! But it's gonna be quite a task recording all 7105 living languages multiple times :P

Does the gender of the person who speaks matter?

CuboxMc: Thank you for the submission! I will add it to the repository and credit you in the original post :-).

Edit: CuboxMc: It would seem that the page cannot be found. Could you try uploading it via dropbox, skydrive, wetransfer? See my e-mail in the original post.

PartyBlaze: Gender does not matter, I'm just looking for as many supported languages and voices as possible! It'd be best if it were your native language. However, accents can be quite fun as well.. ;-)

TheNewSound: Does your voice sound like Morgan Freeman? :D

Pjush: Try this recorder: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ It's called Audacity. You can record directly from your microphone/laptop microphone and it can save as a .wav file. MP3 is also supported after downloading a certain .dll but not necessary for now. :-)

Wonderful people! Keep it up! :)

Pieter

I could do the English one if you send me the link of the website people are using  to audio record?

Offline

@declan if you have a windows computer, there is probably the programme "Audio Recorder" included.

I have windows, I don't have Audio Recorder installled

Offline

try to search for audiorecorder (no space) at the start button search or try to find it at accessoires. if you really don´t have it, there are a lot of small free audio recording programmes out there. mod recommended audacity.

Offline
Champion

Yeah found it, called soundrecorder in accessories.

What do you actually want me to say? I said 5,4,3,2,1 start, but 'start' sounds a bit monotone and plain 0.0

Edit: My voice might be a bit too deep for it, I don't think it will sound good in-game, maybe someone else should do English

Just for the record: I am looking for multiple recordings per language! So every recording is welcome :) As for recording software: Audacity does the trick neatly. It can export .wav files!

Declan, I can do English if you'd wish.

I'm from London so have a fairly traditional/steryotypical accent - if thats what you're after?

Although, I agree, the use of the word 'start' is somewhat humdrum.

Are we supposed to say it on our own language? Like - im from Denmark so that would be:

En - To - Tre - Fire - Fem

or do you want us to say One - Two - Three - Four - Five but just representing our own country? (If you know what i mean)

anyways, i can do both english and danish if u need me to.
