Curve Fever 2 - Sunsetting Support

Hello everyone,

Let me start this by saying that Curve Fever 2 is and will always be incredibly special to us in the best possible way. Players have had and still have great experiences in Curve Fever 2 and that is something we are very proud of!

Unfortunately, because of the declining number of users and the fact that Flash will stop working in 2020, we have decided to stop offering support for Curve Fever 2 as of September 2nd, 2019.

Ceasing support will mean that the game will not be moderated anymore and we will no longer deal with any of the following:

  • account handling
  • bug fixes for the game and forum

As a result of this decision, we will also disable the option to purchase coins and premium memberships in the shop as of September 2nd, 2019. Players who have premium up to that date will keep premium until we will stop the servers of CF2 (which we have no plans of doing yet, might take years). Players will not be able to purchase premium as of Monday, September 2nd, 2019.

Despite us not offering support for the game, Curve Fever 2 will still be up and running the same as before. It will just be more clear for everyone that the game is not being developed as well as relieve the moderators from being held accountable for issues outside their control and, hopefully, ease some existing tensions.

If you have any questions or need further clarification on the matter, please don’t hesitate to email supportatcurvefever.com. I and the other devs will do our best to get back to you in up to 5 working days.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this announcement! I hope you all have an awesome day!

the fact that Flash will stop working in 2020

Fake news

Ceasing support will mean that the game will not be moderated anymore

The 2nd September will be a big day for the community. Finally we are set free from being under the rule of autocratic ruling mods who abused their powers for far too long.

Way too long did mods misuse their abilities to victimize innocent curvers just for the sake of personal agendas or even power trip to feel better about themselves. We have been terrorized and punished to not speak up about those actions but this confinement is coming to an end.

I wanna start a petition to rename this game we all almost stopped to enjoy because of a couple inviolable people (mods)

No premium+ no coins when rooms cost 500 coins to host. They clearly have a date that they plan on shutting the game down, so if you waste your money on this final moneygrab it's your own fault. Stopping support btw, as if there was any support anyways.

This is for sure the most fun and competitive Curve Fever game ever created by you guys. I really don't get why you aren't just updating CF2 to the current open web technologies instead of still relying on Flash in 2019. Sadly this game hasn't gotten any updates since late 2016, which makes the game less enjoyable for the players who have been actually playing it for years. It really makes no sense to bash this game away even tho it's clearly attracting more players than the CF3/Pro does or did. CF2 could have been big af, if only you didn't waste your time with releasing other garbage versions of this game instead of just staying on this and updating/realasing new stuff like many other Online games to this day do. It just keeps the game fresh and gives it some flavor. Pre-Server issues and the terrible Lags/Teleports this game actually did have some pretty decent playerbase probably 3-4x times more than the current laggy situation, which lead many players to quit the game. The Reason for that is because it ruined game experience for the Higher Ranked players (including me), where every single bit of lag matters of alot to your ingame mechanics. Even from a sales perspective this game made people actually make several accounts and buy prem/coins on 'em to just get the game experience while staying high at the rank ladder on the main account. I really dont get the point of you doing this but seems legit and dumb af keep it up man

I feel sad when I think about the end of cf. I spent 8 wonderful years here and I don't regret it. I think if there is a way to save Curve Fever, many people would support it.
One situation has shown that society at CF is one big weird FAMILY.

The developers lack the perspective the players aquired. That's the root reason why CF2 should be an open-source project, as I suggested here in the forums

If I could choose between the current mod team and no mod team, I, along with most others, would choose the latter. But despite what they say in the post, it's unlikely that anything will change on the behalf of moderators. They never log in, and only ever touch CF2 to fire off a petty ban or threat, and I believe that will continue to happen. At face value this post is mostly a good thing, but in reality, it's just accelerating the end for this game.

This game was thrown in the garbage can years ago, why you pretend like you did anything at all in the recent past? This was by far the best version of your game that ever existed. The level of ignorance and incompetence shown by this company is impressive. I wonder how much money and potential you lost by creating your patethic spin-offs. Curve Fever is not even resembling a shadow of its former self anymore. You fucked your own business and you spit on your original playerbase.

One main reason for me to stop playing was the massive FPS lagging that suddenly started to appear even though I had very good specs. It completely ruined my gameplay. Whatever happened to me most definitely also happend to others, which probably caused a massive playerbase bleeding. The community isn't gone because the game is old. Look at other old games like WoW,  RuneScape, osu etc. People play games that are 20 years old and they don't give a fuck about graphics. CF could also have been an all time classic. But nobody plays this game anymore because you dragged it into the dirt and ruined it. All the false promises about how you are going to fix and update this game did not help either. Lying to your players is just inexplicable.

I'd like to add my voice to those saying CF had a huge potential and was miserably let down by the morons who ran the show. The devs saw the game as a stepping stone towards whatever gaming glory they fantasized on, instead of seeing it for what it was : a fantastically entertaining and simple game which only would have needed good servers, a few bugs and glitches fixed and an upgrade to keep up with contemporary technology to become a worlwide smash hit. The game of chess has never changed in centuries, for the good and simple reason that it is great as is and remains to this day an eternal source of joy, fun and challenge. With the proper guiding CF could have been the chess of the cyber age.

Aside from the technical problems and misguided visions, one of CF's major problems was the human side. It never felt like a community, just a gang of factions run by idiots with oversized egos. Having organised thousands of international gaming events and created several leagues over the last 15 years I feel I am in a position to formulate such critics. The mods were always, with a few exceptions of course, underqualified at best, out of their depth in every aspect. Foolishness as the childish censorship (you can't even say "hell" in game lol) says it all. True community is based on a common vision and a fraternal spirit. Instead of trying to create that, the mods imposed, or tried to, some pathetic authoritarian ways which not only killed any spirit of conviviality but failed miserably to erradicate the outrageous number of racist, nazis, homophobic, ...etc. behaviors. At least I learned insults in polish, russian, croatian, dutch, german, hungarian, and so on I guess.

Best proof of how bad the mods are is how this is going to end. Instead of gratifying the game we love we a decent and dignified death by simply terminating it on Sep 2, they're going to let it rot unmoded for months until it finally becomes obsolete. A total disgrace. Shame on you.

RIP CF.

If you disable the option to buy premium membership, please make it free for everyone to host premium games. Paying 500 credits for every premium game is undoable. I hope you understand.

Free premium for everyone would be a terrible idea.

A lot of players (Including myself) bought premium for several accounts, therefore it would be unfair for those people who have already bought premium.

And if you do not want to pay 500 coins to host a game, just buy premium, it only costs 5 euros.

There will also be enough premium members after the 2nd of September who can host premium games, so there is no real need to actually give free premium to anyone.

I think you have read it wrong. Wicky explained to have the 500 coins option removed so it is fair for everyone to make a premium game.

I second this.

Shame on you Geert, You don't deserve the right to this game anymore.
Make it Open Source and let the people who actually like this game work on it.
Just throwing this in the garbage because of your greed is pathetic...
